Do REACH and SVHC affect Polyamp?

Print E-mail
REACH is a new directive 2008, which demands control of the use of chemicals within the EU.
Polyamp is not regarded as a producer of any chemical and has therefore not pre registered anything. We have gone thru all our safety datasheet and communicated with our suppliers.

The first candidate list of SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) was published 28th October 2008.  A new candidate list with 15 new substances was published 13 Janury 2010. We have studied those list and find no substances that can be found in reportable quantities in our products. Download a REACH Declaration.
We describe more with useful links, click on read more.

RoHS and lead free soldering

Print E-mail
The RoHS directive is today well known and set limits of use of certain materials in electronic products. The main issue is the lead free soldering. Polyamp has well before the implementing date used what is called RoHS components and circuit boards.
The RoHS directive is getting hot again as it is under revision. Click on read more to get latest news (October 2009)

Lead free soldering is not so easy when you wave solder on large copper areas which we have in higher power DC/DC converters. Polyamp supply to industrial, military or transportation industry, which is not in the scope of the RoHS directive.

A Polyamp customer must specify RoHS to be 100% sure to receive such unit. However following product families are produced 100% lead free:
PM50 / PM80 -series
PM150 / PM240 -series

PU300 / PU500 - series
PU600 / PU1000 - series
PC1000 / PC2000 - series

All other models can be supplied with lead free on demand.

Does the EUP directive concern us?

Print E-mail
EUP (Energy Using Products) or the Eco design directive is a frame directive that sets demand on ECO design. According to the directive a manufacturer is not affected until an Implementing measure is published affecting his product group. Then those ECO design criterias are base for the CE-mark. Product analyses are runned within EU to judge which products need ECO design criterias. At the moment energy efficiency is the focus. Big savings in energy can be done using state of the art technology in many sectors of the industry.

Energy system in Åtvidaberg

Print E-mail
Energy systemAtvid_in_snow
Polyamp has expanded the factory in Åtvidaberg with about 35% more surface. However the main investments have been made to refurbish the rest of the plant and change our indoor climate. We use now Geothermal Heating and Cooling in combination with recovering the exhaust air ventilation energy. In Åtvidaberg the yearly average outdoor temperature is around +6.5°C well below 22°C, which is a comfortable working environmental temperature.
