Input voltages ranges for vehicles and railway applications |
|
|
Polyamp are experts on DC/DC converters with very wide input voltage ranges. It has been developed standards for input voltage variations that do not completely match our wide input voltage ranges. In vehicles the standard ISO7637-2(24V) and in military vehicles MIL-STD 1275D are commonly used. Please contact Polyamp for such inputs.
In railway applications we have standard input ranges that meets the requirements but mostly we have to adjust the input to meet the standard EN50155 (IEC60571), which specifies input voltage ranges shown in the table below:

The total output power on a unit with T-input range can be derated, see datasheet. Some models can be designed for the UK train standards RIA12/RIA13 or the Italian ST306158.
The above mentioned standards can optionally also specify a hold up time requirements which means the input has to be equipped with a blocking series diode. At low voltage inputs that produce higher losses and the converter needs derating. The figure below illustrates the different requirements of the EN50155 input requirements in a (not normalised) time scale.
